As the segment of fully hybrid and plug-in hybrid vehicles is taking a great leap of progress, most companies like Ford are now looking forward to it. Similarly, 2018 Ford Fusion Hybrid is reported to be in it manufacturing plans.
The standard Ford Fusion is already doing great, and a plug-in hybrid version of it will certainly prove to be appealing. Rumor has it that the new Ford Fusion HEV will be based on the 2017 generation model.
2018 Ford Fusion Hybrid Exterior Changes
2018 Ford Fusion Hybrid is said to receive a slight exterior change. Going with the assumptions, the overall exterior profile will be much smoother as aerodynamics will be revised. Although the front fascia of 2018 Fusion HEV will look similar to the current generation Ford Fusion, expect a few cosmetic updates.
The company will use new LED headlights and taillights. The grille will be made more angular, and 17-inch aluminum alloy wheel will be on offer. Expect a slight change in the rear fascia as the rear bumper will be revised.
Its side body might incorporate deep scoops for an aggressive profile. On top of that, extensive chrome detailing is also expected this time. It is highly possible that the company will try and reduce the overall body weight for more fuel efficiency.
Ford has always been enthusiastic in gracing the interior cabin with an excellent design. The existing Ford Fusion has a comfortable and functional interior cabin which will be carried over in 2018 Ford Fusion Hybrid as well.
The center console has already been remodeled in the current generation Ford Fusion. So expect these changes to be retained. The console offers great convenience as the primary controls are rotary type. Ford’s Sync 3 infotainment system is said to receive updates in the new 2018 Fusion HEV.
Although the exact information regarding the drivetrain of this upcoming 2018 Ford Fusion Hybrid is not known, car experts have made some assumptions. According to it, an 118 HP electric motor will be paired with a 2.0 Atkinson-cycle 4 cylinder engine. Altogether, the combined outputs of these two units will surpass 188 HP.
Speculations are on air that Ford might feature the previously used 7.6 kWh Li-Ion battery pack in this future HEV too. Apart from charging at home or charge stations, a regenerative braking system will also help in restoring energy by a 2nd generator.
As far as fuel economy is concerned, this new Ford Fusion Hybrid will be able to deliver 95 mpg in city, 81 mpg on highways and 88 mpg on a combined basis. Experts have also predicted that this hybrid car will be able to run solely on electricity for almost 22 miles.
Price and Release Date
2018 Ford Fusion Hybrid is expected to start from $33,995. Its price will increase gradually according to different trim levels. As to its release date, the makers might present this HEV during the last quarters of 2017.
