Honda Fit (also marketed as the Honda Jazz) is probably one of the greatest subcompact hatchbacks in all over Asia. The company has even presented a hybrid version of 2017 Honda Fit which excels in fuel economy. Similarly, 2018 Honda Fit Hybrid will be designed to cater all the energy efficiency that a larger percentage of customers now want.

According to what car experts have predicted, this new 2018 Fit Hybrid will be targeted for the U.S and Asian markets. Although a stiff competition is building up in the HEV segment, automakers like Honda have been pushing the efficiency boundaries.

Honda has been successfully able to shed down the weight of this Fit hatchback as the center tank has got a new layout. Also, this modification in the chassis opens up more room in the interior cabin.

2018 Honda Fit Hybrid will share its exterior body design with the existing model. The company might even consider bringing up some cosmetic changes in the crossfade mono form exterior design. The exterior body’s aggressive stance will be retained and aerodynamics might be improved.

As to its interior cabin, the advanced high-tech interface will be reworked for convenience. The upholstery in seats, dashboard, center console and door panels might get some revisions. A dedicated system for monitoring the hybrid powertrain will be featured.

As there’s no official information about the drivetrain of this upcoming Honda Fit Hybrid, experts have predicted that the current model’s powertrains will be carried over. This includes a 1.5 liter Atkinson cycle i-VTEC engine which incorporates a high-output electric motor.

The motor is synced with IPU (Intelligent Power Unit) which comprises of a highly efficient Li-Ion battery. The outputs figures gained in current generation Honda Fit Hybrid goes as 98 HP and 87 lb-ft of torque. Expect these figures to improve in the upcoming model.

An innovative 7-speed DCT (Dual Clutch Transmission) will be used. This ingenious transmission automates gear changes by using 2 clutches while retaining the strong acceleration of manual transmission.

An electric compressor has been used which helps in reducing the engine load for better efficiency. Also to note, Honda Fit Hybrid incorporates an electric servo braking system for increasing the efficiency of the regeneration system.

Drive Modes

This 2018 Honda Fit Hybrid will offer 3 drive modes which are EV Drive Mode, Hybrid Drive Mode and Engine Drive Mode. These modes are automatically selected by i-DCD (Dual Clutch Drive) for adjusting driving conditions.

EV Drive Mode is a motor-only drive which is suitable for urban driving where frequent start/stop and low-speed cruising are required. For a powerful driving and acceleration, Hybrid Drive Mode is suitable as it combines power from both motor and engine. Lastly, Engine Drive Mode is perfect for high-speed cruising as it maximizes the engine’s efficiency.
