Like most world-renowned automakers, Lexus is taking steps to achieve superior fuel economy via hybrid technology. One of the bold moves of the brand is 2018 Lexus NX Hybrid as it is targeted to make the most out of efficient performance. This upcoming Lexus NX Hybrid is also a part of the brand’s line-up of next generation crossovers and SUVs.
Changes in the Exterior
Significant exterior changes are not on the cards and rather 2018 Lexus NX Hybrid will get the same approach. The current generation model has an aggressive stance in its front fascia which is characterized by a chrome trapezoidal grille. Also, expect the same for this upcoming Lexus NX Hybrid.
However, the headlights might be flaunted with sharp cuts both in the front and rear ends. Likewise, the air intakes in the lower fascia are to feature sharp creases for presenting a striking look.
Efficient driving performance will go hand in hand with premium luxury in its interior cabin. Going with the speculations, 2018 Lexus NX Hybrid will retain the same cabin styling which consists of a sophisticated dashboard.
Utmost comfort is maintained by leather upholstery in the seats, center console, armrests, dashboard and door panels. Chrome trims are featured for embellishments in the steering wheel, cup holders, AC vents and door panels. The seats will be heavily bolstered and perforated for ventilation. Functions like heating and power reclining could come as standard.
The hybrid powertrain of 2018 Lexus NX Hybrid will comprise of a 2.5 liter 4 cylinder gasoline engine and electric motor. The electric motor/generator is suspected of producing 67 HP and 70 lb-ft torque. Altogether, the final powertrain outputs might go out as 200 HP and 194 lb-ft torque.
With this hybrid powertrain, 2018 NX Hybrid might be able to complete 0 to 60 mph sprint in 8 seconds or less. Similarly, fuel economy is up for dramatic improvements and the figures might go as 35 mpg in city, 30 mpg on highways and 32 mpg on a combined cycle. The powertrain is also offering various driving modes including Normal and Eco for different performance flavors.
Just like standard Lexus NX, the hybrid variant is also coming with a myriad of safety technologies. Some of these include:
- Parking Sensors
- Rear-view Camera
- Lane Keeping Assist
- Tire Pressure Monitoring
- Electronic Stability Control
- Adaptive Cruise Control
