The well-known “Baby-Benz”, the Mercedes C-class is likely to come out with the 2018 Mercedes Benz C350e Hybrid which claims to outrun its gasoline counterpart. Unveiled at the 2015 North America Auto Show and released first time in 2016 for dealerships, this plug-in hybrid vehicle comes in two variants- C350e Sedan and C350e Estate.
2018 Mercedes Benz c350e Hybrid Design Changes
As compared to engine modifications, design will not see much of a revision compared to its gasoline counterparts. Starting with its three-pointed star on the grille, the 2018 Mercedes Benz c350e hybrid is a 4-door sedan. Leading lines with sharp decals point towards the neatly cut headlights and LED tail lamps. 17 inch alloy wheels come as standard using 245/45 R17 tyres for both front and rear.
Talking of the inside, it does not see many alterations either. It offers 4 drive modes – Hybrid which mixes fuel and electric power, E- mode for full electricity control, E-Save to preserve charge and Charge mode which powers up the gasoline to charge its battery. Mercedes Benz c350e Hybrid 2018 sports keyless ignition, an all glass black roof, heads-up display, power folding mirrors and folding rear seats. Infotainment system is taken well care of with a 13-speaker Burmester Audio System, an 8.4 inch full touchscreen, ambient lighting, satellite radio and cabin fragrance.
Under its bonnet, Mercedes has decided to use a 60 kW, 80 HP electric motor along with a 208 HP gasoline counterpart. Instead of a direct torque convertor, Mercedes Benz C350e hybrid 2018 houses a wet clutch, bolted to an electric motor offering direct coupled efficiency with effortless torque conversion. Together it produces a combined output of 205 kW or 275 HP along with 443 lb-ft of torque which will rev within a range of 1200 rpm to 4000 rpm.
In spite of a battery pack weighing nearly 200 pounds, the C350e hybrid takes only 5.9 seconds to go from 0-62 mph, much quicker compared to its gasoline counterparts. The battery using a 240 volt outlet takes 2.5 hours to charge completely while using a 120 volt plug could extent charge time to 8 hours and above. It is speculated to be a 7-speed automatic with steering wheel mounted paddle shifters.
A hybrid motor has ensured CO2 emission reduction and to be Euro 6 standard compliable. CO2 emission is 77 g/mile which exceeds its rival BMW 330e’s emission of 70 g/mile by a little margin. EPA rating as claimed by Mercedes is 21 miles on a single full charge. Though reliable sources say 8 to 9 miles is what it would manage in city traffic and top speed is expected to clock around 155 mph.
All these would come in handy if the 2018 Mercedes Benz c350e hybrid promises to keep its passengers equally safe. So is the case with all round air bags, 4-wheel ABS, Electronic Stability Control, Auto on Headlights and Integrated Turn Signal Mirrors. In addition to this Rollover Protection System, Blind Spot Monitoring and Lane departure Alert has also been provided.

Looking at its specs, it is likely to lock horns directly with BMW 330, BMW X5 xDrive40e and Tesla S series. With probable unveiling during fall of 2017, the 2018 Mercedes Benz c350e hybrid is expected to be priced from $40,000 and increasing to $60,000.
