The 2018 Cadillac CT6 Plug-In Hybrid is one of the most anticipated hybrid models in the upcoming years. Exterior and Interior Design

The only thing which this model differs in is the plug-in hybrid badge on the outside. The tear-drop shaped accents with the signature Cadillac headlamps, edgy air intakes, beefed up trademark front grille, exquisite and powerful body-lines – the car looks suave and attractive just like what is expected from a Cadillac sedan.

Interior will continue with trims and packages as available in other cars and models. Upscale wooden and metal accents will add-up with premium leather upholstery. Infotainment will start with a dashboard-integrated 8-inch multi-infotainment screen. The wooden central console will come with a leathered gear lever and added luxury and utility modules.

2018 Cadillac CT6 Plug-In Hybrid Engine

There are more than a few pure combustion fanatics who believe hybrid or electric vehicles lack in performance. And that is exactly what Cadillac wants to change with this new model. And this hybrid sedan has the performance specs to take on any other sedans in its class.

Combined power stats of combustion and hybrid powertrains come in at around 340 HP and 450 lb-ft. The powertrain configurations will include: –

  • Combustion Engine – 2.0L Turbocharged Inline 4 Gasoline
  • Battery Pack – 18.4 kWh (Kilowatt-Hour)
  • Electric Motors – Twin 100 HP/74.5 kWh motors.

Strangely this is the same powertrain which can be found in a Chevy Volt. But placement and incorporation of this powertrain is different. The Volt comes with a T-shaped configuration where batteries are included under front and rear seats. In case of this Cadillac, the powertrain is integrated under its cabin floor.

And GM looks to incorporate just that with more power overall for better performance. Comparatively, this 2018 Cadillac CT6 Plug-In Hybrid has the same amount of horsepower to the 3.6L V6 Pentastar engine which powers the other CT6 trims except the base trim. And it has significantly extra torque. The results speak for themselves: –

  • Top Speed – Combined top speed comes in at 150 mph.
  • Acceleration – 5.2 seconds. [0-60 mph.]

Now these are very good performance stats. And from the buyers’ point of view, there’s the added bonus of better mileage.

  • Fuel Economy – 65 MPGe.
  • Pure electric (EV) Top Speed – 78 mph.
  • EV range – 30 miles.

Getting a V6 graded performance with more than twice the mileage will make this 2018 Cadillac CT6 Plug-In Hybrid more than worth a buy.

Transmission and Drivetrain

This model will come with a stand-alone and newly designed RWD configuration. A 6-speed auto CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) will be the only provide option with the whole setup.

The only other full-size luxury sedans which come with this car include among the following a Mercedes- Benz S550e and a Porsche Panamera E-Hybrid. It is worth mentioning that both these vehicles range in above the $90,000 bracket.

Price and Release Date

Price-range will lie between $70,000 and $78,000. With a release date around Q3 2017, this 2018 Cadillac CT6 Plug-In Hybrid will come with a price-tag well below its only peers in the segment. Tune in for reviews.
